Why can't I create a new account with my BVN?

If you're seeing a message that your BVN is already linked to an existing profile, here's how to fix it:

2. When asked "Do You Have a Personal Kuda Account?", select "Yes, I Do"

What's happening behind the scenes?

Think of your Kuda profile like your identity card at work. Just as you can't have two different identity cards for the same workplace, your BVN can only be connected to one profile at Kuda.

Here's how our system works:

  • Your BVN is linked to one profile (your digital identity with us)

  • Your profile can have multiple accounts:

    • One personal account

    • As many business accounts as you need

    • Each with its own account number and email address

When you try to create a new account with your BVN, our system notices that this BVN already has a home with us. That's why you're seeing the error message.

How our account system works

  • Your Profile: This is your identity with Kuda, identified by your BVN

  • Your Accounts: These are the different services you can have under your profile (personal, business)
