At Kuda, we’ve made it quick and easy for freelancers, independent professionals, side-hustlers, and small-scale business owners to open a business account without CAC registration.
Follow these steps to get started with your Kuda Business Freelancer Account.
Before You Start
You’ll need:
A mobile phone that can run the Kuda Business app.
Your BVN details for verification.
A valid NIN.
Your personal and business information.
Your business address details.
You can only have one Freelancer account on your Kuda Business profile.
Address verification for Freelancer accounts is completed with OkHi in the Kuda Business mobile app only.
Step 1: Download the Kuda Business App
Download the Kuda Business app from the Google Play Store or App Store.
Step 2: Sign Up or Log In
Open the Kuda Business app and follow the prompts.
If you already use Kuda, sign in with the details linked to your Kuda profile and continue from there.
If you’re new to Kuda, you’ll need to:
Take a selfie.
Confirm your BVN.
Enter your login email.
Create a password.
Provide your personal information.
Create a passkey if your device supports it.
Make sure all details are accurate and up to date.
Step 3: Choose Freelancer Account
On the next screen, choose Freelancer Account.
A Freelancer account is for people who do not have a CAC-registered business. If you have a registered business name or company, choose Full Business Account instead.
Step 4: Provide KYB Information
We’ll ask for a few things to verify your Freelancer account.
Keep these ready:
Your valid NIN.
Your business category.
Your business description.
Your business address details.
Any other information requested in the app.
KYB means Know Your Business. It helps us understand what your business does and confirm that the account is being opened for the right purpose.
Step 5: Complete Address Verification
Address verification is required to unlock the highest available tier for your Freelancer account.
To verify your address:
Go to your dashboard in the Kuda Business app.
Tap the Address Verification task.
Follow the OkHi steps to verify your address.
Please note:
Address verification cannot be completed on the web. Use the Kuda Business mobile app.
Location access must stay enabled during verification.
Data is used only for verifying your address.
Verification typically completes within 24 to 48 hours.
If address verification is pending, your account may remain on its current limits until verification is completed.
If address verification is unsuccessful, we’ll let you know what to do next.
Step 6: Review and Submit
Double-check all the information you entered.
If everything looks correct, submit your application.
What Happens Next?
After you submit your application, we’ll review your details.
If everything is in order, your Freelancer account will be activated so you can start using Kuda Business.
Your account may start with standard Freelancer limits. To unlock the highest available tier, address verification must be completed successfully.
