Passkeys offer a secure and convenient way to sign into your Kuda Business account without needing to remember or type complex passwords. This guide explains how to manage your passkeys when switching mobile devices and how to use passkeys created on your computer on your mobile phone.

Switching Between Mobile Devices (Android <-> iOS)

This section covers how to sign into your Kuda Business account on a new phone (iOS or Android) for the first time using a passkey stored on your old phone via a QR code scan.

Switching from Android to iOS

  • Prerequisites:

    • On your old Android device, ensure Google Password Manager is syncing your passkeys.

    • On your new iOS device, ensure iCloud Keychain is enabled (usually in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Passwords and Keychain).

  • Sign In on Your New iOS Device:

    1. Download the Kuda Business app on your new iPhone.

    2. Tap Sign In and enter the email address associated with your account.

    3. Select Sign in with Another Device.

    4. A QR code will be displayed on your iPhone. Scan this QR code using your old Android device (your Android device may prompt you automatically or you might need to use the camera or a specific QR scanner function linked to Google).

    5. Confirm the sign-in request on your old Android device, likely using its screen lock (fingerprint, face, PIN). This will authenticate and sign you into the Kuda Business app on your new iPhone.

    6. Optional: Create a Passkey on the New iPhone: If this iPhone belongs to you and you'll use it regularly, it's recommended to create a passkey directly on it. Go to More > Security > Passkeys in the Kuda Business app on your iPhone.

    7. Tap Add Passkey and authenticate using your iPhone's Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. A passkey specifically for this iPhone will be added to your account and stored in your iCloud Keychain.

Switching from iOS to Android

  • Prerequisites:

    • On your old iOS device, ensure iCloud Keychain is enabled and syncing your passkeys.

    • On your new Android device, ensure you are signed into your Google Account, as Google Password Manager will typically store the new passkey.

  • Sign In on Your New Android Device:

    1. Download the Kuda Business app on your new Android device.

    2. Tap Sign In and enter the email address associated with your account.

    3. Select Sign In (or proceed), and when prompted for authentication, look for an option like Use Passkey From A Different Device or Sign in from another device.

    4. A QR code will be displayed on your Android screen. Scan this QR code using your old iPhone (using the standard Camera app usually works).

    5. Confirm the sign-in request on your old iPhone, likely using Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. This will authenticate and sign you into the Kuda Business app on your new Android device.

    6. Optional: Create a Passkey on the New Android Device: If this Android device belongs to you, create a passkey directly on it for future use. Go to More > Security > Passkeys in the Kuda Business app on your Android device.

    7. Tap Add Passkey and authenticate using your Android device's screen lock (fingerprint, face, PIN). A passkey specifically for this Android device will be added to your account and likely stored in your Google Password Manager.

Using a Computer-Created Passkey on Your Mobile Phone

This section explains how to use a passkey you originally created on a computer (like a Windows PC) to sign into Kuda Business on your Android phone. This typically relies on the passkey being synced through your Google Account.

Using a Windows-Created Passkey on Android

  • How It Works: If you created your Kuda Business passkey using Google Chrome on Windows while signed into your Google Account, the passkey was likely saved to your Google Account and synced via Google Password Manager. This makes it available on other devices signed into the same account.

  • Requirements:

    • The passkey must have been saved to your Google Account (not locally to Windows Hello or a different manager) when created on Windows.

    • You must be signed into the exact same Google Account on your Android phone as you were in Chrome on Windows.

    • Google Password Manager sync should be enabled on Android (usually default).

    • Your Android OS, Google Play Services, and Kuda Business app/browser should be up-to-date.

  • How to Sign Into Kuda Business on Android:

    1. Open the Kuda Business app or website on your Android phone.

    2. Enter your Kuda Business email/username and proceed to sign in.

    3. Your phone should automatically detect the synced passkey. Look for a prompt from Google Password Manager asking you to use your saved passkey for Kuda Business.

    4. Tap the prompt and authenticate using your Android phone's screen lock (fingerprint, face, PIN).

    5. You should be signed into Kuda Business.

  • Troubleshooting (Windows-to-Android):

    • Passkey Not Offered? Verify you're using the same Google Account. Check passwords.google.com or your phone's Google Password Manager settings to see if the Kuda passkey is listed. Confirm where the passkey was initially saved (Google Account vs. Windows Hello vs. third-party manager).

    • Using a Third-Party Manager? If you saved the passkey to a manager like 1Password or Dashlane on Windows, you need that manager's app installed and signed in on Android. Select it when prompted during login.

    • Saved Locally to Windows? Passkeys saved only to Windows Hello are device-bound and won't sync. You'll need to use a synced passkey or create one directly on your Android device.
