Automated Address Verification with OKHI

A
Written by Aderonke Adeyemi

To make address verification faster and easier, Kuda Business now uses OkHi’s automated address verification process for Freelancer and Full Business accounts.

This means customers no longer need to upload a utility bill to verify their address.

Instead, customers will confirm their address via OkHi through a guided process on the Kuda Business mobile app.

Using consented location data and address intelligence to confirm that the customer lives or operates at the address provided, this will help reduce manual reviews, speed up verification, and improve the overall onboarding experience.

Benefits of the New Process

  • Faster verification compared to manual document review

  • Immediate validation instead of delayed feedback

  • Reduced backlog and operational workload

  • Improved customer experience and onboarding speed

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Start Address Verification

  • Go to Verify Address during account setup or from the dashboard.

  • Tap Next to begin.

  • If you have a Full Business account, you’ll be asked to confirm where your business operates from:

  • If your business operates from your home address, select this option and use the map pin to locate your home. You must be physically at the address because the app will use your live location to complete digital address verification.

  • If your business operates from a separate office or business location, select this option and manually enter your business address. This option should also be selected if you’re currently away from the registered business address or outside the country.

  • Make sure you select the option that matches where your business operates, as this determines the verification process you’ll follow.

Step 2: Enable Location Services

  • The app will prompt you to turn on Location Services.

  • Select “Allow All the Time” (Android) or “Always Allow” (iOS).

  • Once location access is enabled, the Next button becomes active.

  • At this point, the OKHI SDK is triggered.

NOTE: If you select the home address option, your location access is required to verify that you are physically at the address provided.

Step 3: Provide Your Address

  • Enter your address (must be your business or home address).

  • P.O. boxes or post office addresses are not accepted.

  • You may:

    • Type the address manually, or

    • Find the location on the map.

Step 4: Confirm Your Exact Building Location

  • Move the map pin to your exact building.

  • Add a landmark or nearby bus stop (if required).

  • Confirm you are physically at the address being verified.

Note: The system uses your live location data to confirm residency.

Step 5: Submit for Verification

  • Review the address details.

  • Tap Next / Continue to submit.

  • You’ll see “Address Verification In Progress.”

Step 6: Verification Processing

  • Digital Verification may take up to 72 hours

  • If your business operates from a separate location, physical address verification takes 48 hours in Lagos and up to 2 weeks outside Lagos.

  • You’ll receive a status update in the app once completed.
