Using a Passkey to Sign In to Kuda Business

How to set up and use a passkey to sign in to Kuda Business, and what to do if your passkey does not work.

A passkey lets you sign in to Kuda Business without a password. You sign in the same way you unlock your phone, computer, or tablet. For example, by:

  • scanning your face or fingerprint

  • entering your device pattern

Passkeys are more secure than passwords. They protect your business account from hacking and phishing scams.

When you set up a passkey on a supported device, it becomes the main way you sign in to Kuda Business. Your password is only used before your first passkey is created.

Your biometric data stays on your device. It is never shared with Kuda.

What you'll need

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • The latest version of the Kuda Business app

  • An iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later, or an Android phone or tablet running Android 9 or higher

  • For web sign-in: a Windows 10 or 11 computer with Windows Hello, or a Mac running macOS Ventura or later

  • A screen lock on your device. This is the security method you use to unlock it, such as a face or fingerprint scan, or a passcode, PIN, or pattern

  • A stable internet connection for setup

If your device does not support passkeys, you can keep signing in with your password using our legacy authentication.

Important: Do not set up a passkey on a device you share with other people. Anyone who can unlock that device may be able to use your passkey.

Set up a passkey

You will usually be asked to create a passkey the first time you sign in. You can also set one up at any time:

  1. Open the Kuda Business app and enter your email address

  2. Tap Create A Passkey

  3. Read the information about passkeys and tap Continue

  4. Choose to use biometrics or your device screen lock

  5. Unlock your device with your face, fingerprint, or PIN to confirm it is you

  6. Wait for the confirmation screen

Your passkey is saved automatically:

  • Apple devices save it in iCloud Keychain

  • Android devices save it in Google Password Manager

You will be signed in straight away. Log out and sign in again once to test that your passkey works.

After you set up your passkey

Kuda Business uses one active device at a time. When you sign in on a new device, you are signed out of the previous one.

Your passkey syncs only within the same ecosystem:

  • Apple devices using the same Apple ID with iCloud Keychain turned on

  • Android devices using the same Google Account with Google Password Manager turned on

Use your passkey to sign in

In the app, enter your email address, then unlock your device the usual way.

On the web at business.kuda.com, enter your email address, then approve the prompt on a device that has your passkey.

Sign in on a different device using a QR code

If your passkey is not on the device you are signing in from, you can scan a QR code. You will need:

  • the device that holds your passkey nearby

  • Bluetooth switched on for both devices

To do this:

  1. Enter your email address on the new device

  2. Select Sign in with Another Device

  3. A QR code appears on the new device

  4. Scan the QR code with the device that has your passkey

  5. Unlock that device to approve the sign-in

  6. Follow the prompts to create a new passkey on the new device

If you cannot use your passkey

On supported devices, there is no password fallback once a passkey exists. If your passkey does not work:

  1. Tap Try another way when the passkey prompt appears

  2. Use QR code sign-in from a device that still has your passkey

  3. Check that autofill is turned on for passkeys. See Why Passkeys Depend on Autofill Settings

  4. Restart your device and try again

If none of these work, contact Kuda Business support. You will need to verify your identity before we reset your passkey.

If your device is lost or stolen

No one else can sign in with the passkey on your lost device, as long as they cannot unlock it.

You can still sign in by:

  • using your synced passkey on another device with the same Apple ID or Google Account

  • scanning the QR code with another device that has your passkey

If your device has been stolen, contact support straight away and ask for a passkey reset. We will verify your identity first.

Replacing a passkey

Do not delete your passkey. Deleting it makes it very difficult to sign in, and there is no self-service way to recover it.

To replace a passkey:

  1. Contact Kuda Business support through in-app messaging or [email protected]

  2. Verify your identity so support can reset your passkey

  3. Sign in again and create a new passkey

  4. Check that the new passkey appears in iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager
